OMD is short for Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark.
Isn’t that a cool band name?!
This is one of the better synthetic bands in the later 80’s. They had a few hits.
As far as I can remember, they had hits which were popular with the romantic comedy movies playing in those days.
I purchased the soundtrack from one of these movies and then started collecting the latest albums from some of the better songs from that album.
I purchased one of OMD’s albums and it was great! (In those days they were vinyl records) it was so good, i bought another and another. This was one of the few bands i upgraded to cd’s when they came out.
What i have learned is that since they are forefront of the synthetic bands. A few of their albums had songs that didn’t quite work. That was ok, the rest of the music was great so they were forgivable for a few strange sounds.
These days they are still producing music. I think i have all their cds (except for lives and collections)
For excitement, I decided to purchase a few of their earlier cd’s. (Not for me but as a gift :^) it turns out that while the albums are listed in Amazon, they are not Available to purchase.
