The Coffee Place's Joke Stack
Quonset Point
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sheryl Ann and I decided to go to Rhode Island, a small state Sheryl Ann called "a surveyor's mistake." As we entered the state Sheryl Ann wondered aloud if, since the state bird is the Rhode Island Red, the state motto might indeed be "Eat cock". I said, "Eat cock, indeed, there's more to this state than their big roosters," and Sheryl Ann said we'll just see about that, and she bet me her next Social Security Check that I couldn't find anything in the state to tickle her fancy and that is why we went to Quonset Point. Quonset Point is the birthplace of the Quonset Hut and we went to the military base there where we got to see several prototype Quonset Huts. It was all quite fascinating, as I knew it would be, and we stayed for hours examining the different rivets and alloys used in the construction of these wonderful, all purpose structures. Sheryl An had to agree, grudgingly, that any state which could create such a wonderful product did, ineed rate high in her book. We were hungry, so we went to the cafeteria on the base. There was no selection to choose from, just the meal of the day, but it was scrumptious, another plus in the state's favor. It was called Creamed, Chipped Beef on Toast, but the nice young man who served it said most people call it SOS, which stands for Sh*t on A Shingle. Sheryl Ann said there was sh*t on one of her shingles back home once, but she thought came from the neighbor's cat, Hootie.
