Burning Threads

While pondering this, you should probably be drinking a cup of have and sweet and sinful cafe mocha
coffee.
If you have two threads, and each one burns completely in one hour, but the threads do not burn uniformly (meaning that some parts of the threads burn faster than other parts).....
With only a box of matches and the two threads, how can you determine the passing of 45 minutes?
