TRICKS FOR THE REALLY, REALLY, REALLY BORED TO TRY
(By Kathleen Lavey, Lansing State Journal)

Have you ever heard of straw wrapper gymnastics? Holding a mosquito hostage? Ever blown up a marshmallow treat in the microwave? Want to learn how? Read on!!

We accept no responsibility for disasters caused by people who attempt these tricks: play at your own risk.

**Trapping A Mosguito By It's Nose...

How it works: If you find a mosquito has landed on your arm, tense your muscles as tightly as possible. The tenser muscles will hold the mosquito's stinger in your skin, and the bug won't be able to escape. Helpful hints: You've got to have pretty good muscle defination for this one. If you're not buff, just pinch the skin around the skeeter and watch the bug buldge.

**The Magnificant Expanding Peep...

How it works: You know those marshmallow chicks that come with all the good candy in your Easter basket? Take one and place it on a napkin or paper towel inside your microwave oven. Set the timer and watch as the peep expands to ten times it's origional size. This should happen within about 30 seconds. Remove the giant chick from the microwave, set the napkin on the table. Watch out, the peep will be kinda hot! Watch it deflate. This trick also works with circuis peanuts. You know, those dry, orange mashmallow treats that are shaped like a peanut and are banana flavored.

**Microwave Grape Racing....

How it works: Coat the bottom of your microwave with plenty of cooking oil. place several grapes, stem ends backwards, in the oven. Shut the door, turn on the timer, and watch. As the grapes heat up, steam coming out the stem hole, propels the forward. Helpful hints: Don't forget to clean the microwave afterwards!

**Straw-Wrapper Gymnastics..

How it works: Next time your in the type of restaurant that uses straws with soft drinks, tear off two pieces of the wrapper, of roughly equal length. Twist each one into a coil as tightly as possible. Form an "X" with the twisted pieces, then wrap them around each other a couple of times. Set your creation on the table top. Fill part of the strawwith your beverage of choice, holding it in the straw by covering the top end with your finger. Place a drop on the wrapper pieces and watch them convulse. Helpful hint: Nice, fresh straw wappers work the best. To big a drop will swamp the experiment.

**Frozen Bubbles...

How it works: Save some bubble soultion until it's about zero degrees or so outside. Carry your bubble kit outside and make some bubbles. They'll appear and almost immediately freeze hard. Helpful hints: Don't blow the bubbles yourself. Your breath is to warm. Just wave that little wand around. Wear gloves!
